Hey, I’m Kate
A registered social worker offering counselling in Squamish and virtually across BC.
Life can be complicated, and you don't have to navigate it alone. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, family conflict, ADHD, the lasting effects of trauma or simply feeling stuck, therapy can offer a space to better understand yourself and move toward meaningful change. I work with youth, adults, and families with a compassionate, curious, and non-judgmental approach, helping clients develop insight, build on their strengths, and learn practical tools they can carry into everyday life.
My Approach
Therapy is not about fixing you—it's about creating space to better understand yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that shape your life.
I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that feels genuine, collaborative, and free from judgment. Together, we'll explore what's bringing you to therapy, identify obstacles that may be keeping you stuck, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change. While feeling understood is an important part of the process, insight alone is often not enough. I aim to help clients develop practical tools, new perspectives, and greater confidence in their ability to navigate life's challenges.
I believe many of our struggles make sense when viewed in the context of our relationships, experiences, and environments. Rather than focusing on what is "wrong" with you, we'll work to understand how your current patterns developed, what purpose they have served, and whether they continue to serve you today.
My approach is informed by training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and mediation and conflict resolution. Drawing from these approaches allows me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, whether you're looking for practical strategies, support processing difficult experiences, improving relationships, strengthening emotional regulation, or working through the impact of trauma.
I balance compassion with honesty. At times, this means offering support and validation; at others, it means gently challenging unhelpful beliefs, avoidance, or patterns that may be standing in the way of growth. Throughout the process, my goal is to help you build a deeper understanding of yourself and create lasting changes that feel authentic and aligned with your values.
Above all, I believe therapy should help you not only feel better, but understand yourself better.
